Son of APGA Women Leader Tragically Killed After Abduction in Anambra
In a deeply troubling incident that has sent shockwaves through Anambra State, Ifesinachi Onyekere, son of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Women Leader, Esther Chinyere, has been found dead days after he was abducted from his residence.
According to multiple reports, the businessman—who served as Managing Director of Fish Magnet Outlet—was forcefully taken by unidentified gunmen on Saturday, July 27, 2025, in Okpuno, Awka. The assailants reportedly shot him in the leg before dragging him away to an undisclosed location.
Confirming the tragic development, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed on Wednesday, July 30, that the victim’s lifeless body was recovered by a joint team of police officers and local vigilante operatives. His vehicle, a navy blue Toyota Corolla, was discovered abandoned along the Ukwulu–Igbariam road.
In an official statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, condemned the brutal act and instructed all tactical and intelligence teams to intensify efforts to track down those responsible.
“Preliminary findings suggest that the attackers closely monitored Mr. Onyekere before launching a calculated assault on his residence in Ezinifite village, Okpuno,” the police said. “The Commissioner has made it clear that justice will be served and that such acts of violence will not be tolerated in Anambra State.”
The killing has drawn widespread condemnation from residents and sparked renewed calls for improved security measures across the state.
