Abducted Bus Passengers Regain Freedom After Highway Incident in Edo State

Sixteen individuals who were seized by armed men while traveling in a commercial bus along the Benin–Iyere–Agbanikaka–Oluku corridor in Edo State have been successfully rescued.

The kidnapping reportedly took place at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 5.

Confirmation of the rescue came from the Edo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Joel Yamu, who disclosed the development via a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

Shortly after the abduction, footage allegedly recorded by bystanders and fellow commuters began circulating online, capturing scenes of panic and confusion in the aftermath of the attack.

CSP Yamu’s statement assured the public that law enforcement officers responded swiftly and efficiently, leading to the safe recovery of all 16 victims.
