
Kano Police Apprehend Armed Robbery Suspects, Recover Stolen Vehicle Linked to Abuja Attack
The Kano State Police Command has arrested three individuals in connection with a violent armed robbery that took place in the Durumi area of Abuja. The suspects were apprehended during a coordinated operation, and a stolen vehicle involved in the incident was successfully recovered.
According to a statement released on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspects assaulted a family during the early hours of September 5, critically injuring one victim before fleeing the scene with a Toyota Corolla.
“Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, our operatives, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, conducted an extensive surveillance operation that led to the arrest of the suspects on September 6,” Kiyawa stated.
The arrested suspects were identified as:
- Ismail Imran, 20 years old
- Abdulaziz Yahaya, 31 years old
- Musa Ibrahim Isah, 29 years old
All are residents of Rigasa Quarters in Kaduna State.
During the operation, law enforcement recovered a blue 2014 Toyota Corolla S with registration number KWL-78 DN, which had a damaged windscreen. Preliminary findings confirmed that the vehicle was taken during the armed robbery in Abuja, around 2:00 a.m. on September 5.
The vehicle’s owner has since positively identified the suspects, confirming their involvement in the attack and theft.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, commended the officers for their professionalism and swift response. He highlighted the successful operation as a strong example of the effectiveness of community-based policing, a core strategy advocated by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM.
The suspects are currently assisting investigators in uncovering further details about their criminal activities.
