The presidency has forecasted the imminent collapse of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition within half a year, attributing its downfall to a lack of coherent ideology and an absence of a meaningful agenda for Nigerians.
On Channels Television’s Politics Today, Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, dismissed the coalition as a non-threat to the current government. He referenced Labour Party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, who recently cautioned that internal disputes over the presidential candidacy could fracture the alliance. Baba-Ahmed urged Nigerians to temper their enthusiasm for the coalition’s early promise.
Bwala described the ADC as a loose collection of displaced politicians lacking substantive policy proposals. “They have yet to present any credible alternative. Their focus is on criticism and issuing statements without vision or genuine concern for Nigerians,” he asserted.
He also minimized any challenge to President Tinubu’s leadership, emphasizing the coalition’s fragile nature. “Such movements tend to generate brief excitement, but as Datti pointed out, the real issue will be the battle for leadership—everyone wants to be in charge. I’m confident the ADC will dissolve within six months,” Bwala concluded.
