
Man Faces Charges in Ekiti Over Alleged Goat Theft
A 37-year-old man, Bamidele Ayobami, has been brought before the Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ado-Ekiti following accusations of stealing goats within the city.
According to court proceedings, the Ekiti State Police alleged that Ayobami, alongside unidentified accomplices, conspired to commit the theft in the early hours of August 8, 2025, around 6 a.m. in the state capital.
The prosecuting officer, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, informed the court that the offense contravenes Section 421 of the Ekiti State Criminal Law enacted in 2021.
In defense of his client, Ayobami’s lawyer, Barrister Oluwafemi Alabi, appealed to the court for bail on lenient conditions, stressing that the accused posed no flight risk.
Presiding over the case, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun approved bail set at ₦50,000, with one surety required. The matter has been adjourned to October 7, 2025, for further hearing.
