Lagos Police Arrest Painter for Allegedly Kidnapping Employer’s 7-Year-Old Son
A 32-year-old man, Chigozie Michael Clement, has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly abducting his employer’s seven-year-old son and demanding a ransom of ₦7 million.
The suspect, who worked as a painter, reportedly took the child from the family’s residence without permission on August 25, 2025. The boy’s father, upon realizing his son was missing, immediately reported the incident at the Alapere Police Division.
Hours later, the boy’s mother received a chilling phone call — the painter, now a kidnapper, was demanding millions in exchange for the child’s safe return.
The case was escalated to the Special Squad I unit of the Lagos Police Command, which launched an urgent and discreet investigation. Acting on intelligence, officers tracked the suspect to Ijegun, a suburb of Lagos, where he was arrested on August 27. The missing child was found unharmed, locked inside a room, and was promptly rescued and reunited with his family.
According to the police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspect admitted to orchestrating the kidnapping in an effort to raise money for personal and family-related expenses.
Authorities have since begun deeper investigations to determine whether the suspect acted alone or had accomplices. Formal charges are expected to be filed in court soon.
